গাজীপুরের কাশিমপুর কেন্দ্রীয় মহিলা কারাগার থেকে রিম্পা (২১) নামে এক বন্দি নারী দেয়াল টপকে পালানোর ঘটনায় দুইজন মেট্রন ও পাঁচ মহিলা কারারক্ষীসহ মোট সাতজনকে বরখাস্ত করা হয়েছে।
বরখাস্ত কর্মকর্তা ও কর্মচারীরা হলেন- মেট্রন লায়লা আনজুমান সুমি, মেট্রন মেরিনা, মেট্রন রেহেনা এবং মহিলা কারারক্ষী শায়লা, শারমিন, জেমি ও আসমা।
শনিবার (১৮ জুলাই) সকালে বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন সহকারী কারা মহাপরিদর্শক (এআইজি) মো. জান্নাতুল ফরহাদ। তিনি বলেন, দায়িত্বে অবহেলার প্রমাণ পাওয়ায় রিপোর্টের ভিত্তিতে গতকাল তাদের ৭ জনকে বরখাস্ত করা হয়েছে।
এর আগে, গত বৃহস্পতিবার সন্ধ্যায় প্রায় ৪০ জন নারী বন্দিকে দিয়ে কারাগারের ভেতরে ইট বহনের কাজ করানো হচ্ছিল। ওই সময় দায়িত্বে থাকা মেট্রনের তদারকির ঘাটতির সুযোগ নিয়ে বন্দি রিম্পা (২১) কারাগারের অফিস ভবনের পাশের দেয়ালের কার্নিশ বেয়ে সীমানা প্রাচীর টপকে পালিয়ে যান। পলাতক রিম্পা মেহেরপুরের গাংনী উপজেলার রায়পুর এলাকার মো. হাসানের মেয়ে।
তিনি ঢাকার ধানমন্ডি থানা এলাকায় ভ্রাম্যমাণ আদালতের মামলায় তিন মাসের সাজাপ্রাপ্ত হয়ে কাশিমপুর কেন্দ্রীয় মহিলা কারাগারে বন্দি ছিলেন।
ঘটনার পরপরই কারা কর্তৃপক্ষ পুরো কারাগারে তল্লাশি চালালেও তার কোনো সন্ধান পাওয়া যায়নি। পরে সিসিটিভি ফুটেজ পর্যালোচনা করে নিশ্চিত হওয়া যায় যে তিনি কারাগার থেকে পালিয়ে গেছেন। পরে শুক্রবার রাতে কোনাবাড়ী মডেল থানায় কারা কর্তৃপক্ষ একটি মামলা করে।
